XFree86/OS2 mailing list

Last updated 28 Mar 1999

These HTML pages can be downloaded from SET.GMD.DE (/pub/misc/XFree86OS2/html) by FTP.

PURPOSE OF THE LIST

The XFreeOS2 mailing list deals with all aspects of the XFree86/OS2 port of the X Window System, including, but not restricted to Please refrain from advocacy for and against X11, XFree86, OS/2: this is supposed to be a technically oriented list; it does not belong here if you think PM/WPS or Win95 is better for something. In case of abuse it might be possible that you will be thrown off the list. Please also consider that the scope is XFree86 AND OS/2: general X11 questions that are dealt with in books or specific X newsgroups, and/or XFree86 problems with other operating systems like Linux do not belong here either (I would consider questions about X or OS/2 books or net resources as valid, though).

Although there are close connections between EMX and XFree86/OS2, please avoid Cc'ing between both mailing lists if possible. Nor do you need to Cc a mail to the XFree86 lists or to the *authors* of XFree86/OS2 (not precise: Sebastien and I are not the authors, but the ones who ported it): we are present on this list.

ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS

To subscribe to the list, use the web form at http://borneo.gmd.de/mailman/listinfo/xfreeos2.

You will be sent a subscription and later a welcome message.

Please keep the welcome message, because it contains information on how to unsubscribe, as well as an initial password to change your subscription options.

Please ensure that your email address is stable and reachable, so don't use for instance some PC in a university cluster which is occasionally offline, or which is good for sending mail only.

To send a message to other list subscribers, send your mail to the address

	xfreeos2@borneo.gmd.de
(Of course, when you are doing this from this WWW page directly, expect only an answer if you are also subscribed to the list).

Replies to mails from the list will be sent back to the list. Please take this into consideration when you want to give a private reply to the poster: You have to specify the poster's address manually then. This behaviour is consistent with the old list.

Please don't send your unsubscription request to the list itself, as it will usually only annoy people. So keep the welcome message in a safe place in order not to forget how you can get off this list.

There is a searchable archive of the mailing list available

Now have fun with XFree86/OS2 and the things to appear in this list.
